Born in 1994 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Shanell Mccoy is a young,
talented singer/songwriter. As a child, Shanell was exposed to many
genres of music from artists like Chaka Khan, Erykah Baduh, and
Lionel Riche to bands like Air Supply and Journey. She wrote her
first song at the age of five and gave her first performance at the
age of ten. From then on, she has performed at multiple venues and
has written hundreds of songs. Her songs are mainly focused on real
life situations and empowerment. Outside of music, she works to help
young people find their own voice by working with organizations such
as youthrive and her own budding non profit organization, Lady
Brigade which encourages confidence among young women. Currently,
she is working on her first album in hopes of exposing herself to a
larger audience.
